This is an excerpt from There Will Be Blood (Paul Thomas Anderson, 2007). 11 adult viewers were shown the video and their eye movements recorded using an Eyelink 1000 (SR Research) infra-red camera-based eyetracker. Each dot represents the center of one viewer's gaze. The size of each dot represents the length of time they have held fixation.

It gives a clear idea how acting and staging can controll the viewers eye

i´ve rendered the walkcycle to judge the animation better.

I´m testing rigs from animationrigs.com, it´s a bit different to animate rigs i didn´t built, but what mostly slow things down for me is the amout of controls. In the next time i want to animate more with those rigs. 17 Euro per month for those rigs are quite cheap. There are not many free rigs out there which are that professional. Max (the dog) def. need an update, but since animationrigs treat their rigs with updates (max is at 35) i´m sure they fix some things.

since the rig is build for ingame-purpose there deformation are quite limited, so i cheated a bit in 2D. Without the deformation it felt a bit lifeless, i need to play more with this technique. It´s super fast, everything works on vertex-level bound to the camera, freaking awesome and stable

Glenn Vilppu is a great artist and an even more better teacher when it comes to painting, gesture, painting etc. I´ve purchased "gestures" from his store and that was well spent. I just love when artists talk about their philosophy, thoughts and reflect their art. That´s the most interesting part, since splines and movement are no big deal when you´re animating some time. That´s one point why i love the VTS from Keith Lango so much and enjoyed dynamic posing from Chris Hatala (~60€) so much. When you can spend some money this month, do yourself a favour ;)
